Nkuku is a British homeware brand built around pieces made by hand, a lot of them in recycled or reclaimed materials. Hammered metal, rough glass, aged wood, thick ceramics. Nothing in their range looks like it came off a production line, which is exactly why it works in a warm, dark room.
What I use them for
The pieces that make a new room look like it has been there for years. A mirror with a worn frame, a lantern, a heavy candle holder, a vase with an uneven glaze. One or two of these next to new furniture does more than any amount of styling.
They are also good for lighting with character. If you want to know where a lamp should go before you buy one, start with how to light a room.
Where I would not use them
If you want everything to match. Handmade means every piece is slightly different from the photograph, which I like, but it is worth knowing before you order a set.
Shipping
I link to their UK shop, so prices are in pounds. Each piece shows where it ships before you click.
